A reflection on the life that was lived for the week ending on September 8th.
Last week was seriously a week. Walked through some deep waters with a couple of families. My heart is still heavy for them and we’re praying for peace, clarity and courage.
I’m shocked how often those three things I find myself praying for. I trust that God’s plans are good, that he’s gonna work all things out. But it’s the unknown and waiting that's often is the hardest for me. There’s something about having peace in the storm, clarity of reality with a next step to take and the the courage to actually walk the road before us.
I rarely ask God to change things or do things. But I ask a lot for the peace, clarity and courage to follow him down the road before us.
So as a pastor this week has been heavy. But also sacred and a privilege to be invited along.
As a parent it’s been sweet. The boys are at such a fun stage. Zi is reading like crazy trying to earn “panther paws” for school and loving his fall soccer league. Indie is figuring out the ropes of kindergarten and just how far he can wear his hat in the school before he’ll be asked to take it off. He insists on wearing it from the house to the school door.
Pearl and I have seemed to be on the same page, which is such a gift. We had a delightful day together Friday working at our favorite coffee shop, doing bills and syncing calendars, and then going for a run on a favorite trail, getting groceries and ending the day as a family watching a movie.
Training was solid last week. I’m figuring out my sleep patterns and finding myself recovering quicker. Realizing this season is not one for heavy weights but longer times.
Here’s the countdown of workouts:
Monday - 5 miles @ 9:36 pace
Tuesday - 30 minutes stationary bike, 100 push-ups, 30 knee push ups, assisted pull ups and shoulder presses, 3 mile run @ 10 pace
Wednesday - rest day
Thursday - 1 hour stationary bike, 70 push ups, planks, 5 miles @ 9:34 pace
Friday - 5k hill run @ 9:39 pace
Saturday - 10.5 mile run to Pagoda @ 10:10 pace
Sunday - rest day
So, how was your week? I hope it was amazing, I hope you’re fully becoming and doing what God created you to do. Thanks for encouraging and supporting me, how can I do that for you?
Happy Monday.
