The week ending August 2019

As the week comes to a close the voice of “you should have done more” is screaming pretty loud in my head. I pushed it hard at the beginning of the week and by Thursday I was tanked. Ended up taking Thursday and Friday off as a rest day, not what I had planned but realizing it was what the body needed. The management of the internal critic might be the hardest piece in training.

Keeping it quiet when it’s shouting:
“you can’t”
“this hurts”
“you look stupid and fat”
“you’ve missed two days, might as well make it three”

Knowing when to listen to your body and when to tell it to shut the heck up is tricky and hard.

As a form of accountability to you, and a reminder to me, here’s this week’s work out.
Monday: 30 minute ride on the trainer. Bicep / tricep workout. 5mile run at 10:28 pace.
Tuesday: 35 minute ride on the trainer. Hard leg workout, kept the weight down but had high reps on Squat and deadlifts.
Wednesday: 35 ride on the trainer. Chest workout.
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 8 Mile run at 10:48 pace. 20 min cool down on bike trainer.

Having to remind myself that forward progress is the goal, that rest days might be great days, and to keep the big picture in mind.

Excited to have you guys on this journey with me.
